Compatibility
The sign up boxes are built so that they can be called by your site from a third party location (currently zaptacular.com). This eliminates the need for multiple site updates every time the code is modified due to additions or updates. Because they are designed this way, there are some features which may make the sign up boxes incompatible with a small percentage of your users' browsers.
The current setup used to display and process the boxes has been tested in house using Internet Explorer 5.00, Netscape Navigator 4.03, Netscape 6.01, and AOL 6.0 (revision 4097.10...). It is fully compatible with these browsers and is believed to be compatible with IE 4.
The following is a list of suspected and known compatibility issues that may occur when using other browsers.
If you are a member of the network and are experiencing a problem, please sign into your account and report the problem. You may also report problems from the box using the 'Report Problems' link.
Issue: The sign up boxes will not display in browsers that do not support JavaScript.
This will not be a distraction because your users will simply not see anything at all due to the fact that the code will be hidden.

Issue: The sign up boxes do not display correctly on WebTV.
This is mainly due to size issues. Boxes that have a Dynamic Description Viewer (currently our only box type) will not function properly on WebTV. The subscription process has been tested and seems to be working.

Issue: The sign up boxes do not display correctly using the browser Opera 5.
When I was first putting this thing together I was having major problems making it look right in Netscape 6. At first I decided that we just wouldn't worry about it. Then I decided that wasn't fair to our clients. After I worked out the Netscape problems and just before I was about to call this a done deal I thought: "Maybe I should see what this looks like in Opera.". It looked and performed worse in Opera than it ever did in Netscape! Well, with a little research I found out that Opera probably accounts for fewer than 1% of all commonly used Browsers on the Internet. I'm not going to lose sleep over it and hope you won't either!

Issue: Processing may be hindered by certain versions of AOL.
The way that AOL handles certain window functions (pop-ups, sizing, positioning. from the horse's mouth.) might create a conflict between the desired result and the actual result of a subscription request.
When making a subscription request from an AOL 4.XX window users might experience a loss of data which will result in a subscription error. Users may also experience two new windows popping up as opposed to the intended single new window. When connected through AOL 4.XX, but using an Internet Explorer (5.0 specifically) generated window there are no apparent problems.
When making a subscription request from an AOL 6.XX window users might experience two new windows popping up as opposed to the intended single new window, however, subscription processing seems to be working. When connected through AOL 6.XX, but using an Internet Explorer (5.5 specifically) generated window the same issues occur.
These issues are currently being explored and possible solutions are being considered and tested.
